Coaching Guide
Choose a basketball coaching clinic around a situation you want to improve in practice. You might need help adapting an activity for beginners, teaching a coverage solution or changing the way you give feedback.

Watch how the coach organizes the activity and uses constraints. Identify what you would need to change for your own players before introducing it in practice.
Introduction to the Constraints-Led Approach is the relevant starting topic if you are new to the framework. Pair it with the public CLA guide to explore the relationship between the player, task and environment.
Implementing a Conceptual Offense focuses on taking offensive principles into practice. Before studying an activity, identify whether your team needs to create an advantage or make better use of one it already has.

Select one activity from the clinic and identify its intention. Record the starting positions, defensive restrictions and scoring rules that influence what players do.
For example, starting a defender beside the ball-handler gives the offense a different finishing opportunity from starting the defender underneath the basket. Choose the start that relates to your players’ rate limiter.
Run the activity and observe how players respond. If the challenge is too difficult, adjust the defender’s starting position or freedom to move. Record what changed so you can decide how to use the activity again.
