What coaches tell us
The shooting course is extremely good
The shooting course is extremely well structured. It first guides you through a thoughtfully designed framework, then builds on a solid theoretical foundation, which is also supported with helpful materials. At the same time, everything is consistently connected to practical applications. In the next step, it dives deeply into CLA and then DL, both covered very extensively with a huge number of practical examples. …
Implementing the conceptual offense is…
Implementing the conceptual offense is true basketball. It puts the players in position to make decisions. Sometimes they make great decisions and other times they don't, but that is what learning looks like. This is the way basketball coaching needs to move.
Implementing the Constraints Led Approach
… Our statistical data comparing our first 11 games this year with the first 11 games last year are undeniable as we have increased our per game scoring by 12 points, our overall field goal percentage by 8% our 2 point field goal percentage has increased by 11% and our free throw percentage has increased by 23%. While last year we won 3 games out of our first 11, this year we have gone 5 and 6 with 3 games lost by a total of 5 points. …
Why it works
Game shots never come from the same spot twice
Most shooting practice is form shooting and spot shooting. Players take the same shot from the same spot, off a good pass, with nobody guarding them. In a game the pass comes from a new angle, a defender closes out and the clock is running.
The course uses two tools instead. Differential learning (DL) changes something on every shot, such as the range, the stance or the arc, so each player finds a way of shooting that works for their body. The constraints-led approach (CLA) changes the rules, space and scoring of a game and adds defenders, so players learn to read when they are open.
Players still take plenty of shots. Each one is just closer to a shot they will take in a game.
Free practice activity
Try one activity at your next practice
This is how the course teaches: first why shooting practice needs variety and defenders, then the activities that add them. Here is one progression to run this week.
Players in pairs with one ball per pair, spread around the baskets you have. For the last step, groups of five with two balls.
- 1
Short, medium, long
One player shoots while the partner rebounds and passes. Every shot comes from a new spot and a new range: one close, one from mid range, one from deep.
- 2
Change the shot
Keep moving spots and add one change at a time. Shoot with a flat arc, a normal arc and the highest arc you can. Then try no jump, a normal jump and the highest jump you can.
- 3
Make it harder
Play jungle shooting 3-on-2 with two balls. The offense can only shoot threes but can drive and pass anywhere. The two defenders try to disrupt every shot, and either team can pass a loose ball back to the offense. For a new problem, allow only catch and shoot threes, or make players touch the paint before they shoot.
- Scoring
- In pairs, keep shooting until you make three. That earns your pair a point. First pair to 5 points wins. In jungle shooting, each made three is 1 point and the offense has 60 seconds to score.
- Rotation
- In pairs, switch shooter and rebounder after three shots or after 60 seconds. In jungle shooting, swap offense and defense after each 60 second round.

Coach reviews
In their own words
Chan Hearron on the Shooting System
Our practices are way more engaging and way more fun because they’re just not boring. We’ve got a purpose every time we do one of these small sided games for shooting. And I’ve seen some major results. Our girls are getting more confident in shooting the basketball because they’re not afraid to miss.
This course is the perfect balance between differential learning, shooting activities, shooting challenges and contested shooting small-sided games.

Who this course is for
A good fit if
- You coach a youth, high school, club or senior team, or you train shooters one on one or in small groups.
- You want shooting practice with defenders, decisions and competition in it.
- You can give one block of practice to shooting. A ball, a basket and one clear constraint are enough to start.
Not the right fit yet if
- You want one correct technique to teach every player. The course helps each player find a shot that works for them.
- You want to start with shot selection only. Start with the Developing Shot Selection clinic, then come back. See the clinic ($39)

Questions
Before you buy
Is this just a list of drills?
No. The Introduction and Theory modules explain why the method works before the activity modules. The 130+ differential learning activities, the contested shooting games and the shooting challenges are how you put it into practice.
Can I see the activities, or is it just written?
The activities are filmed with players, like the sample lesson on this page, and the course includes full length workout videos that show how activities fit together in a session.
Is form shooting banned?
The course looks at the role of form shooting using the evidence, and shows you constraints-led and differential learning activities that carry over better to live play.
Will I understand the terms?
Yes. Terms such as differential learning and BRADs (a make that hits the back of the rim and drops straight down) each have their own lesson before you use them in activities.
Will this guarantee a higher shooting percentage?
No course can promise a percentage. It gives you a method for developing shooters who can adapt their shot in games, and challenges to track progress at practice.
Do I need special equipment, and what if I have questions?
No special equipment. The activities use a ball, a basket and simple constraints. Email support is included, and you keep lifetime access to every lesson, including updates.
Is there a payment plan?
Yes. Pay $499 once, or 3 monthly payments of $175 ($525 total, USD). Select “Payment Plan” in checkout.
What if it isn’t right for me?
14-day money-back guarantee. If it’s not right for you, email info@transformingbball.com within 14 days of purchase and we’ll refund you in full. For courses and workshops, refunds apply if you’ve completed less than 30% of the content.
