Alex Sarama to Join Cleveland Cavaliers as Director of Player Development

We are delighted to announce that Transforming Basketball’s founder, Alex Sarama, will be joining Kenny Atkinson’s staff in Cleveland as Director of Player Development. This comes in the wake of Transforming Basketball’s Director of Strategy, Gray Thomas, joining the Oklahoma City Thunder as a Skill Acquisition Research Fellow.

Alex spent part of last season working for the Rip City Remix, the Portland Trail Blazers’ G League Affiliate, as Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development. Transforming Basketball will continue to share the ideas that Alex has spent the last five years working on, with Alex stepping back from an active role in the company to focus on his coaching duties in Cleveland.

We wish the Cavaliers all the best and are excited to see the impact Alex and Gray will have on the NBA by introducing contemporary skill acquisition ideas.
